Instant Pot Pinto beans (Fast and Perfect – No Soaking!

You can cook pinto beans perfectly every time with an instant pot. We’ll show you how.

Instant Pot Pinto beans

We prefer the Instant Pot to cook pinto beans because it is quick and easy. (No soaking necessary!) The beans are perfectly tender!

What you should know about:

  • Ratio = Pinto beans:3 parts water
  • Cook Time is 35 minutes
  • Release for 15 minutes, then release the remaining pressure

Pinto beans can be used in a variety of dishes, including soups and stews. They are also great for refried beans and baked beans. Vegan sausages and stuffed peppers can also be made with pinto beans.

Ingredients

  • Pinto beans, 1 cup
  • Three cups of water (or vegetable stock to add more flavor).

Instructions

  • Stir to avoid sticking. Add the pinto beans, water, or vegetable broth to the instant pot. Pressure cook for 35 minutes on high (it takes about 8 minutes to pressurize the Instant Pot before cooking starts).
  • After the timer has gone off, let it release naturally for 15 minutes. Then, release any remaining tension. Once the steam has escaped, carefully remove the lid and drain any excess liquid.
  • Enjoy right away in soups and stews. Also, use them to make tacos or refried beans. Cooled leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to five days or in the frozen section of the freezer for up to one month. Reheat on the stovetop in a pan, adding water as necessary to avoid sticking.
