Acai Bowl

Acai Bowls are popular smoothie bowls served in restaurants, cafés, and smoothie shops. Did you know that they’re easy to make? Only a few simple ingredients and a blender are needed!

Acai berries contain antioxidants and fiber. They are also rich in omega fats. They are also low in sugar. The acai berries have a slightly tart flavor and a hint of unsweetened cocoa. Because they are not sweet, they can be blended with other fruits or topped with fun toppings.

We use frozen acai packs that can be found in almost any supermarket. Blend the acai packs with milk, frozen bananas, and berries.

Now for the fun part: customize your bowl by adding ALL the toppings. You can go crazy with the toppings or add just a few. It’s your choice! You can create your acai bowl!

Next time you crave an acai, try making your own. These are delicious, healthy, and easy to prepare!

Ingredients

Milk – You can use almond, coconut, or cashew milk. Coconut water can even be used!

Frozen Banana – Use a frozen one so the acai is thick. I recommend freezing banana slices to make it easier to blend. Slice the banana into pieces and place them in a container or bag for freezing. Keep in the freezer for up to three months. Remove the frozen acai right before making your acai berry bowl.

Frozen Mixed Berries – I use a wintry mixed berry mix that contains blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries.

You can purchase acai packets in the store’s freezer section. I use Sambazon acai packs that are unsweetened.

How to make Acai Bowls

This recipe for acai is so easy! Let’s get started!

Put the milk, bananas, berries, and acai Bowls packs in a powerful blender. Preferably one with a tamper. A good blender is needed to make thick acai bowls.

Here are some excellent blenders: Breville and KitchenAid.

Use the tamper and low-speed blender to push down the frozen fruit.

Continue blending on low speed until smooth and creamy. You can add more milk, but not too much, or your mixture won’t be thick.

Divide the mixture into two bowls.

Serve immediately.

Acai Bowl Toppings

Here are some suggestions for toppings to customize your bowl.

Fresh Fruit- strawberries, blueberries, banana slices, raspberries, blackberries, mango, pineapple, or kiwi.

Granola – for some crunch! Some of my favorite granolas are almond butter, chocolate chip cookie clusters, granola, chocolate granola, peanut butter, and chocolate peanut butter.

Coconut – regular or toasted Coconut

Nuts – Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, Pistachios or Cashews

Nut Butter: Add a drizzle of almond butter, peanut butter, and cashew butter.

Chia seeds

Hemp hearts

Nutella – drizzle Nutella on top for a touch of decadence.

Pure Maple Syrup or Honey I think the bowls already have a lot of sweetness, but you can add more by adding a bit of honey or maple syrup.

How to store

If you want to store the puree longer, I suggest freezing it without the toppings. The toppings become mushy.

To freeze, place the acai purée in a container and freeze it for up to two months. The night before, transfer the acai puree to the refrigerator to defrost overnight. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Half a cup of Milk (dairy or almond, cashew nut, coconut, or soy).

I use Sambazon Unsweetened Acai.
