Asparagus Recipes

grilling and roasting are the best ways to prepare asparagus. These methods enhance the vegetable’s natural flavor and caramelize it.

You can also pan-fry the chicken, but this is a little more work and could smoke up your kitchen. You can boil or steam it, but we don’t like the taste or texture (think bland and squishy).

We’ll show you how to roast perfect oven-roasted asparagus.

Oven-Roasted Asparagus Tips and Tricks

Trim off woody ends. Trimming the ends of asparagus is recommended because they are difficult to chew and can result in stringy roasted spears.

Cook with a high heat: The higher the temperature, the more grilled and al dente it will taste. We like 450 F/232 C.

Use high-heat oils: Avocado oil is a great choice because of its high smoke point, which limits oxidation. It can also be used at higher temperatures.

Do not overcrowd. By leaving a small space between asparagus spears, they will roast instead of steam and have a golden brown outside.

Season with a sprinkle of black pepper or sea salt. Add vegan Parmesan Cheese to the roasted vegetables after roasting. This is a delicious and elegant touch.

How long should you roast asparagus?

The length of time required to roast asparagus depends on its thickness and temperature.

We recommend that you cook your asparagus at 450 F for some time between 1 and 2 minutes.

  • Small stalks: 6 minutes
  • Medium stalks: 8 minutes
  • Large stalks: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • Fresh asparagus in a small bundle (300g after trimming).
  • 1 1/2 tsp avocado oil
  • Sea salt is a healthy addition to any meal.
  • One healthy pinch of black pepper ( optional ).

Optional FOR SERVING

  • Vegan parmesan cheese
  • Lemon juice and zest

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Prepare a large baking pan (as per the original recipe // add more baking sheets if needed).
  • Place the asparagus spears on the baking sheet. Trim the woody ends (about 1-2 inches below the bottom). Refer to the packaging to determine the maximum temperature for parchment paper. The best results were achieved with a bare baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper (optional). Optional: Sprinkle sea salt and pepper. Avoid crowding the pan to encourage browning. Asparagus can be close together but not overlapped.
  • Bake for 6-10 minutes or until the top is lightly browned. It should still be a bit crunchy. The longer the stems are cooked, the more time they will need. Add more salt if necessary.
  • Serve immediately. Garnish with vegan Parmesan cheese or lemon zest and juice.
  • Fresh is best. Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat leftovers in a skillet over the stove until warm. This product cannot be frozen.
