Vegetarian Restaurant Sydney

The days of mushroom risotto being the only vegetarian option on Sydney’s menus are long gone. While a few places still serve this veggo classic, you don’t have to look elsewhere if you know where. Although not all these restaurants offer vegetarian options, they all serve the same delicious, exciting vegetable-based cuisine that will make you reconsider eating meat.

Yellow

Yellow eliminated meat from its dinner menus in February and noticed a change in diners. It was obvious that there were more vegan and vegetarian guests at Yellow. They didn’t anticipate the cheery mood that would follow the switch. Customers didn’t just bring food, but they also brought their gratitude to the new vegetarian restaurant.

Alibi Bar and Dining

Vegan cheese. It is one of many oxymoronic snacks on the Alibi menu, a wholly vegetarian restaurant, and bar in Woolloomooloo. It can be found in theĀ Ovolo Hotel. This bold move by a boutique hotel to make its food-and-beverage offerings nut- and plant-based is perhaps a sign of how far we have come. This platter is delicious, creative, and suitable for anyone vegan, lactose-intolerant, gluten sensitive, or simply looking for a little fun.

Otto Ristorante Sydney

It is possible to assume that a righteous celebrity inspired Otto’s long-running vegan menu. This Woolloomooloo institution, famous for being a wharfside runway to stars, has many celebrities who have adopted a plant-based diet. It turns out that Richard Ptacnik, executive chef, started animal-free dining by introducing regulars to the restaurant. This vegan diner had been coming in fortnightly for over a decade. So the question is: How does a menu that doesn’t contain eggs, meat, or cheese compare to a restaurant known for its innovative take on Italian cuisine? You can eat Otto’s pork ragu or squid-ink without any problems.

Kindred

Vegetarians may find it difficult to scan an Italian menu. Find the right words (stracciatella!) Brown butter! If you want fun, a bland risotto could ruin your night. Kindred is a 40-seater home in Darlington owned by Matt Pollock. The menu features a wide range of plant-based options, so the odds are always in your favor. The former A Tavola chef has shifted to a wider range of vegan dishes, which are more affordable and more popular, in the 18 months that the neighborhood Italian restaurant opened. It’s not hard to see why regulars embrace the change.

Nour

Falafel ownership is a war zone. Israel, Egypt, and Palestine all want credit. There is one thing everyone can agree upon: deep-frying cauliflower in a falafel mixture is a great way to make it delicious, especially when it’s served with a creamy pool of harissa-tahini-yogurt sauce, thinly sliced black grapes, and a dusting of dried molokhia, known as Egyptian spinach. This is the modern take on classic Middle Eastern cuisines at Nour. There are plenty of vegetarian options.

Gigi Pizzeria

It turns out that pizza without cheese can still be delicious. There were a lot of people who were skeptical about the decision to switch to a plant-based menu at Gigi on South King Street. But they were wrong. A chewy, wood-fired pizza base is covered with sweet golden tomato puree and tender ribbons. The olive tapenade and capers add the right amount of umami. We promise you won’t miss the mozzarella as the salty, savory, and spice trifecta hits all your flavor points. We don’t think so. Try getting a table. It’s always packed every night.

Pizza Madre

Is it possible to make a statement with slices of pie in a city that offers pizza by the meter? Madre in Marrickville has done just that. The A-team behind Two Chaps, Piero Pignatti Morano and Kim Douglas, have opened this tiny pizzeria in a corner just blocks from their home. They’ve gathered all the information they can about classic Italian pizzas to create something unique and local, namely a vegetarian pizza restaurant.

Abie’s Vegetarian Takeaway

Pendle Hill is a quiet suburb in the western suburbs that serves as a hub for the Sri Lankan community. Pendle Way is bustling with people looking for dried goods, spices, and ready-to-eat meals. Abie’s Vegetarian Takeaway is the best place to find a curry plate. You’ll find 20 different all-veg curry options here.

Bodhi

Perhaps you thought that vegans would have to forgo the small plates of delicious dumplings that are delivered to your table every now and then. Bodhi Bar in the city is here to satisfy your yum-cha cravings. There are no rumbling trolleys. But, in return, you can enjoy your cruelty-free sui mah under Phillip Park’s giant fig tree. Mother Nature approves.

Bentley Restaurant and Bar

It might seem strange to expect a fancy wine bar and restaurant in the CBD’s original Fairfax building to be inclusive. But the Bentley Restaurant and Bar, by Nick Hildebrandt and Brent Savage, is all about having fun. You don’t have to be there for the whole sit-down dining experience. Vegetarians and vegans can enjoy eight courses of each of the best veg in the city.
