You can have creamy, perfect oats with an Instant Pot for 20 minutes. We’ll show you how.
Instant Pot Oats
Instant Pot cooking of rolled oats is fast and easy and produces perfectly creamy oats.
What you should know about:
- Ratio = 2 – 2 1/2 parts water and dairy-free milk: 1 part rolled oatmeal
- Cook Time = two minutes
- Release = 10 minutes natural release. Then, release any remaining pressure
Porridge made with oats is delicious, especially when topped off with fruit (fresh or frozen), nuts, seeds, nut butter, maple syrup or brown sugar, cacao nibs, or cinnamon.
Instant Pot Oats: Benefits
You’re right; 20 minutes is not a huge reduction in cooking time when compared with a stovetop. It takes the instant pot 8 minutes for it to pressurize and 2 minutes to cook. A 10-minute natural release should be done afterward.
What are the real benefits?
- Hands-Free – The Instant Pot allows you to set it and forget about it. No stirring is required, and there is no need to worry about oats burning. Ideal for busy mornings!
- Prep Meals- Perfect for large quantities. Prepare a large amount of oats, and then store them in jars to be enjoyed throughout the week.
- Large Batch- With the Instant Pot’s large capacity, you can cook oatmeal for a lot of people and keep them warm until they are served (no drying, no burning). Ideal for entertaining and feeding guests in your home!

- After the timer has gone off, let it naturally release for 10 minutes, and then release any pressure that remains. Once the steam has escaped, carefully remove the lid.
- Choose your toppings and enjoy immediately. Cooled leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to five days or in the refrigerator for up to one month. Reheat the pieces on the stovetop. Stir frequently, and add more liquid if necessary to thin.
